1. Good News: Where the Intel is Good

Fighting Communism

  1. Alejandro Mayorkas was impeached by the House. Many people misunderstand what impeachment means or how it works. The lower chamber votes to impeach, then if it's successful the issue goes to the Senate. It's in the Senate where the trial takes place. In the USA today, the Senate is dominated by communists. So a trial of a criminally negligent person who is working the communist agenda will simply go nowhere.
  2. If your Congressional Representative is a communist (as is mine), you can always "adopt" one who believes in individual worth and the Rule of Law. This is why I "adopted" Marjorie Taylor Greene as my representative in Congress even though I'm in KS and she's in Georgia. I contribute to her campaign so she can stay in office fighting for all of us. In Kansas, the communists have devoted disproportionate resources to keeping Comrade Davids in office. So rather than fight the battle here, I join a winner elsewhere.
  3. The communists impeached Trump four times. At the end of his first term, we had the lowest unemployment in 50 years, the rate of inflation was decreasing, we were energy-independent, we met our CO2 targets, peace was being brokered in the Middle East, Russia stayed out of Ukraine, and businesses were growing. All of the opposite is true now after 3 years of Biden. And yet, not a single impeachment. Please contact your Congressional Rep and ask about this double standard. What possible excuse can Congress have for this?

The Ongoing Covid Scam: Tidbits

  1. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has led the crusade to expose the Covid Scam. She is the only member of the House to hold hearings on it.
  2. Meanwhile, in the private sector, victims of this scam are winning case after case in court. Most of the suits involve employer abuse of people (get jabbed or get fired). What we really need is to see extradition to Nuremburg of Nutcase Nancy, Upchuck Schumer, Quacktor Fauci, Brainless Biden, and their criminal cohorts from the Centers for Disinformation and Censorship, the Fraudulent Drug Administration, Moderna, Pfizer, Facebook, the New York Slimes, and other bad actors. Most of these people deserve to be swinging from a rope for Crimes Against Humanity. But it is unlikely any of them will ever be brought to justice. We can boycott the Slimes and Facebook and encourage others to do the same. We can ask our Congressional Reps to defund the CDC, which is not merely useless but actively harmful. Not much else we can do, however, in a nation with a caste system and no rule of law.
  3. Many people are still wearing masks "to protect against Covid". If masks are an effective barrier against Covid, then why did we have lockdowns, why did we wait for a "vaccine", why where there "vaccine" mandates, etc.? Why not just have everyone mask up for a week and stop the virus from replicating? I think we need to try to "red pill" these people. One way is to say, "I see you are wearing a mask, which must mean you have absolutely no faith in the Covid vaccines. Thanks for making such a strong statement, I wish I had the courage to speak out that way."

Other News

  1. https://twitter.com/i/status/1755645567747654102  You can't make this up!
  2. https://twitter.com/FOXNIIGHTGALAXY/status/1758531433059242457 Senate Communists are pushing a new Workplace Protection bill for violent crazies; it would bar churches from having armed security so that people are just sitting ducks for the first psycho to come along. On the one hand, it's nice they are so concerned for the safety of violent criminals. On the other hand, nobody is forcing violent criminals to choose churches as their workplace. The could, for example, choose the offices of communist senators. But wait, those offices have -- drum roll please -- armed security.

Rocket Pen

The Rocket Pen Reader is an affordable, powerful reading assistant and reading tutor that erases the barriers created by dyslexia and other reading problems. It can be used privately in the classroom, avoiding stigma, thanks to the earbuds included in the kit (it can alternatively be used without earbuds).

How it teaches reading

Before the early 1980s, public schools relied on phonics to teach reading. This allowed any student to "sound out" a new, unfamiliar word and also recognize its root and thereby often grasp its meaning even without a dictionary. Then schools switched to the "Look See" method, which treated words as individual pictograms to memorize. The results were dismal, plummeting the USA from the top of the literacy ranks to the bottom among industrialized countries.

The Rocket Pen puts phonics back in.

It also adds a context-driven dictionary and a context-driven thesaurus, both powerful tools for improving reading skills. See the reading tutor functions in the chart below.

It is the answer

The Rocket Pen Reader is the answer for helping the reading-challenged in the classroom, special needs classes, home-schooling, and adult education. Because of its mobile-friendly design, you can carry it with you and use it anywhere. Not only does it read to you, it helps you learn to read (for example, by showing you the syllable breakdown and the definition). It is super easy to use, no need to watch a dozen videos to figure out what to do.

Based on the highly successful ReadingPen 2 and vastly superior to the cPen Reader Pen, the RocketPen is the latest generation in a reading tutor scanning pen. It is a quantum leap or two beyond anything else on the market. This amazing device retails for $499, sells for $399 on Amazon and Walmart.com, but is on sale now for a limited time only via our eBay store at only $379!

It beats the competition

3. Brainpower tip

The fact the brain is a physical organ means our intellectual abilities are dependent, at least to some extent, on the physical health of our brain. Here are some things you can do for the health of your brain:
  • Get enough sleep. Sleep is when the brain goes into "flush out the toxins" mode. To get enough sleep, do things like go to bed at the same time every night, keep your bedroom dark at night, and have a clean and comfortable bed.
  • Eat no toxins. This requires more than casual attention. Readers of this eNL already know not to consume "the other white powder" and ya'll know I eat a lot of different plants. So you are probably thinking you can hit the "no toxins" goal by simply eating organic fruits and veggies. One problem with this is fruits are often coated with a nasty toxin called "Apeel" and the FDA allows it to be called "organic". Ask your grocery store about Apeel. If they use it, don't buy their fruit.
  • Exercise rigorously and religiously. A casual walk once or twice a week doesn't cut it. For at least four days out of your seven, do something that pushes your heart to its limits. I train six days a week and climb on the seventh, and I am a senior citizen. And I haven't missed a workout since my late teens. It's a matter of deciding to make it a priority.
  • Protect it from injury. If you ride a bike, wear a helmet. Avoid activities that subject your brain to being sloshed around inside your skull; these include boxing, American football, and most other contact sports. Anything where you reach a sudden stop is also a danger, for example I do bouldering and try to climb down the wall or roll with the fall instead of just jump down and stop.
  • Protect it from chemicals. If you use paints or solvents, follow the label directions for PPE and ventilation. For your home, vinegar and baking soda can handle most of your cleaning needs.
  • Protect it from recreational drugs. Sure, pot is legal in many states now (including mine). But it's psychoactive and now we are seeing hard evidence that its long-term use is brain damaging.
  • Protect it from experimental medications. In the USA, vaccines (unlike other drugs) are not required to be tested for safety or efficacy. So they aren't. This makes them, by definition, experimental. I'm done taking experimental medications.
  • Protect it from disease. Ensure your diet consists of foods that are nutrient-dense and (generally) calorie-sparse (some good food, such as nuts, are nutrient-dense and calorie-dense). Eat things as unprocessed as is practical, completely eliminating highly processed foods. Poor food choices are why people succumb to disease.
  • Manage stress. You can't escape the frustrations that come with life. But you can escape bathing your brain in stress chemicals by developing a way of coping with stressors that doesn't involve blowing your top or stewing in anger.
  • Forgive. Let go of slights, whether real or perceived. Grudges eat at the person who holds them, in no small part due to the chemical toxicity they create for the brain. And forgive yourself, we all make mistakes.

4. Finance tip

Soaring prices for everything can no longer be ignored. The latest? Many couples who went out for a Valentine's Day experience at a restaurant (on The Day or on the weekend due to time limitations) were shocked to find a price tag twice as much as what they had expected.

The root cause is the astoundingly brazen looting of our Treasury by the socialists. They have spent trillions we do not have on things we do not need. Doing that required generating trillions of dollars of debt, which the Federal Reserve "bought" by creating trillions of dollars out of thin air. In the two years preceding August of 2023, the money supply grew by 83% while the output of goods and services dropped sharply during that same period. The result was 100% inflation, which is really hard to hide.

There are only two ways to reduce inflation:

  1. Reduce the amount of money created by normal commerce, by increasing the interest rate. Only the Federal Reserve can do this, and such an action creates other problems.
  2. Increase the output of goods and services. This can be facilitated by reducing anti-business regulations, but the Brainless administration has gone on an anti-business crusade.

This means we are stuck with inflation for the foreseeable future. And since inflation is an input to prices, we can expect a general increase in prices as well. The socialists will not respond to public pressure to stop raiding our Treasury, for the same reasons they ignored the Will of The People and installed Brainless as POTUS. Solving the root cause isn't within our means, unless this November there is some semblance of election integrity and we boot enough of these bandits out of office.

What can we do in the meantime? Here are some tips:

  • Buy quality goods, even if they cost more. This is counter-intuitive to many people, but the fact is cheaply made goods cost more because you replace them and/or they are expensive to maintain. I bought a 2003 Camry mostly because I didn't want repair bills. And aside from maintenance and tire replacement, I've spent probably less than $1,000 on repairs in all this time. I have quality wood furniture that still looks great after 40 years, nobody can ever say that about the particle board crap they buy from Ikea.
  • Take care of what you have. As an example, take the time to wipe your dishwasher tub and seals clean. Use a gel that doesn't clog, check the filter often, and periodically run a cycle with a cup of vinegar to clean it out. Also learn how to do minor repairs such as replacing the fill valve and drain valve. Dishwashers are very expensive to replace, but I replace mine less than half as often as is typical. For your car, use synthetic oil and change both it and the filter at 5,000 miles. Don't buy a cheap filter, I recommend the K&N brand because it has low backpressure but high filtration (thus it costs more than, say, a Fram).
  • Look for money leaks. I used to work at an office where I was about a decade older than the mean age. The younger folks drove crappy cars and lived in apartments, I had nice (but not ostentatious) cars and lived in an affordable but comfortable home. One big difference between us is I prepared my meals at home and brought them to work while they went out for lunch every day. So if you figure a $12 difference for each of the 260 work days typically worked that amounts to $3120 a year. But that's in after tax dollars! If they will simply waste $3120 per year on lunches, what else do they waste?
  • Don't get sick. The inability to pay medical bills is the primary reason people file for bankruptcy and also the primary reason they lose their homes. It's also a reason they cheat on their taxes, thereby bringing down on their heads an organization staffed mostly by mentally ill people who wield nearly absolute power. Getting sick is a choice, and you make that choice every time you eat. Yes, there are exceptions despite food choices but these are extremely rare. It costs a lot to live the disease lifestyle. You are much better off paying more for unprocessed foods than paying for prescriptions. Even with expensive "health" insurance, people can't pay these bills. So why shell out $1,000+ a month if you end up stone broke anyhow? That's over $12,000 per year you save and you can use part of that to bolster your immune system via healthy food choices. I have not been sick since 1971, despite being born with an immune deficiency and being sick "constantly" until at about age seven I started taking "you are what you eat" very seriously.
  • Don't call for scams. Scammers can take you for thousands of dollars, wiping out all the savings you got from packing your lunch plus a whole lot more. Use your favorite search engine (e.g., Bing, Duck Duck Go) and search for "common scams". Then do some attentive reading.

5. Security tip

A legitimate direct sales via telephone operation is expensive to operate. This is why you seldom get sales or marketing phone calls from companies that actually offer something you want or need. You get bombarded with calls from telescammers who, at the very least, try to milk you for information they can resell.

Telescamming operations are fairly cheap to operate. Their "sales" people nearly always work on straight commission, which is another way of saying almost none of them ever get paid. People have bills to pay, and when their unemployment pay runs out and their savings about run out, they will take any kind of job. And because they are financially desperate, they really want to close that sale to get the commission. The operators of the telescamming operations are the ones getting paid, the grunts you hang up on rarely see a dime for their efforts. Telescamming is, in that sense, like the illegal drug trade. The mules don't make squat, but the few at the top make a ton of money.

Here are some ways they make that money (besides not paying the grunts):

  • Verify your name, phone number, and city as part of a list verification process. Then they sell that list and because you are on it and "verified" you will get a lot more calls. Defense: Don't confirm or deny anything. Just hang up.
  • Offer you an uncollateralized loan at terms that sound very attractive. All you have to do is send the last six months' bank statements. A classic phishing operation, you have now given these slimey folks very sensitive information. Defense: Ask for the loan terms in APR and state you will not pay more than 1% over Prime. They can't offer that, this ends the phishing trip.
  • Pitch something in regard to Medicare. It's a scam. Defense: If you're not old enough to be eligible, tell the caller they are 10 years too early. If you are old enough to be eligible, tell the caller "You must have me confused with my dad (or mom, as the case may be), who recently passed away. Please do not call again."
  • Claim to be working with the Social Security Administration to get you your maximum benefits. No, they are just looking for someone they can rob. Defense: Hang up.
  • Offer affordable "health" insurance and want to send a sales person to meet you in your home. Defense: Just say no. Medical insurance is, for most people, a complete rip-off. What you pay as an uninsured person is usually less than the deductible of an insured person.
  • They want to make an offer for your home. In reality, they want to case the joint while also milking you for sensitive information they can sell. Defense: Firmly state your home is not for sale and hang up.
  • Pitch a get rich quick "investment" scheme, such rare coins, oil leasing, diamond mining, movie production, rare stamps, start-up company, etc. Defense: Firmly state that you don't do these kinds of investments and ask them not to call you again. Then hang up.

Elderly people are particularly targeted by these scammers. The scammers get lists of people who qualify for Social Security (over 62), lists of people whose zip code has a lot of elderly people, and lists of people who are elderly by dint of paying a rogue IRS employee for the information. They cause many elderly people to lose their life savings.

If you are over 62, you might want to take a cue from my dad. He figured out a way to get these people to stop calling. He used to tell me about it and we'd have a good laugh together. He would say, in a very somber tone, "Look. I'm an old man dying from cancer. Do you really have to call me with this kind of nonsense?" Then he would cough and hack into the phone, pause a second, say, "My oncologist is calling", then hang up. He said that after a couple of weeks, these kinds of calls just stopped.

After the calls ceased, he said he enjoyed the "win" but missed screwing with these people's minds. I told him all he has to do is fill out a sweepstakes form, and the obnoxious calling will be back.

My hardest climb ever, a 5.11d on lead: https://youtu.be/UT5h0heUUBc . I made a dumb mistake initially, letting the rope wrap over my shoulder. Watch what happens.

The scale:

  • Beginner: 5.6. 5.7. 5.8, 5.9
  • Intermediate: 5.10a, b, c, d 5.11a, b, c, d
  • Advanced: 5.12a, b, c, d 5.13a, b, c, d. Almost nobody climbs at this level at any of the 5 local climbing gyms.

I was working a crossword puzzle, and came to the clue "Oversleeper's need". There were five spaces and the first letter (from another clue) was an A. The correct answer for the puzzle was, of course, "alarm". But the clue is based on fiction, and thus any answer given is wrong in reality.

A person who uses an alarm to avoid "oversleeping" has actually underslept. And he/she will pay for that all day long with reduced immunity, reduced mental functioning, and reduced overall energy. Sleep deprivation also induces calorie cravings, so the sleep deprived tend to "gain weight" (add body fat) and that can fuel emotional stress which leads to even less ability to sleep well.

Sleep is the time during which the brain gets rid of its metabolic waste (other things are done also, but this is the main event). When this process is complete, so is the need for sleep. Thus, it really isn't possible to get too much sleep. You might sleep longer on a given day than you desire, but your body is merely trying to erase accumulated sleep debt.

When people claim they "over sleep" unless an alarm wakes them, they are misinterpreting the situation. It's not that they slept too long, it's that they went to bed too late and/or did not prepare correctly for sleeping and/or did not correctly manage any waking up they did after going to bed. So they didn't naturally awaken at their desired rising time.

The solution is to find out what time you need to go to bed, and then arrange your "end of day" such that you are in bed by that time.

Let's say you desire to awake at 0518. I chose that time, because it's the one I use. I would prefer a bit later, but the cat who owns me chose this time and it's close enough. I could go to bed at 2200 (10 PM), for a total time of (2400 - 2200 + 518 =) 7:18. Assuming I need 8 hours of sleep and fall asleep instantly, that leaves me 42 minutes shy. But I don't go to sleep instantly, I am probably an hour shy of what I need.

If I've relied on an alarm for years on end, then the problem with bed time timing is I don't know exactly how much sleep I need. I will first have to erase that sleep debt then dial things in. Here are the steps:

  1. Determine your sleep debt by trying to note how long it takes you to fall asleep. If you are well-rested, then it should take about 30 minutes. If you zonk out almost instantly, you are severely sleep-deprived.
  2. Take cat naps (10 to 15 minutes) as many days per week as you can, to close any gap from Step 1.
  3. Note how long you have been sleeping each night, and add time to it based on the results of Step 1. If you fall asleep right away, add an hour. So if you were in bed for 7 hrs per night before being jangled awake by the alarm, then you'd start with 8 hours. Call this your total in bed time, or TIBT.
  4. Count backwards from your desired wake time, using your TIBT. Go to bed at that time.
  5. Consistently use this bed time for three weeks (this adjusts your circadian rhythm).
  6. After three weeks, perform Step 1 again and readjust.

It's important to understand that your sleep needs can vary from day to day. This dialing in process does not ensure you will get exactly the amount of sleep you need or that you will awake at exactly your desired time. It will get you very close to both. If you use an alarm clock as purely a backup, you'll incur a little sleep debt that you may be able to erase during the next night's sleep. But go to bed early that night and see if you beat the alarm clock the next morning. If not, then go to bed a bit earlier until you are back on track.

Going to bed early enough to beat the alarm clock works only if you take care of other things that help or hinder sleep. Some tips:

  • Ensure your bedroom is cool and dark.
  • No phones, televisions, or other electronics in your bedroom. These will not only delay your falling asleep but will reduce the quality of your sleep.
  • Change your bedding weekly, at the very least. Wash in hot water, adding white vinegar to the bleach dispenser and using only 1/4 of the recommended amount of detergent. Do not allow bedding to get completely dry in the dryer with any heat provided; tumble dry is fine. Never use "fabric softener".
  • Have a wind down time that is based on doing something relaxing such as reading a book, talking with a friend, or giving your cat or dog a petting session. Don't watch movies before going to bed, not only is the content likely to be stimulating, the light from the screen absolutely is.
  • Reduce liquid consumption during the last few hours of the "waking day" to reduce the need to interrupt your sleep with potty calls. Try to load up on water, etc., during the first half of the day.
  • Don't do "the news". By its nature, it's sensationalized to promote reader/viewer interest. And it's usually wrong. Remember during the height of the Covid scam how the news outlets (or so I hear) bombarded people with negative messages to amplify the fear factor? Millions of people went to bed in a state of fear, rather than being able to relax into a deep sleep.

At www.supplecity.com, you'll find plenty of informative, authoritative articles on maintaining a lean, strong physique. It has nothing to do with long workouts or impossible to maintain diets. In fact:
  • The best workouts are short and intense.
  • A good diet contains far more flavors and satisfaction than the typical American diet.

7. Factoid

The earth is closer to the sun during the northern hemisphere's winter than it is in the summer. The temperature difference is due to the angle of the sun, not its distance from the earth. Note that in the southern hemisphere, the sun is closer during the summer. Joe Biden is a moron regardless of how far away the sun is.

8. Thought for the Day

The ignorance movement relies on its adherents to not know anything, while the stupidity movement relies on its adherents to be unable to process what little, if anything, they do know.
