Some tips on domain name registration
Choose a name that contains a keyword relevant to your site's purpose.
Don't use hyphens--people get confused with them, and such names don't
do as well with search engine spiders.
Think of a name that's snappy, easy to remember, and easy to spell.
Stay away from domain names that sound like other names more famous.
Customers can smell a skunk and won't do business with anyone so unethical as to pull a
cheap stunt like naming your computer store "compac.com" when Compaq is clearly
the one whose name you are infringing.
Don't assume you can change the name later if you don't like
it--changing a domain name is always a nightmare.
Don't "let" just any ISP register your domain name for you.
Either use an ISP or host you know very well or use a professional registration
service.
